SRW Conversion question

Does the front of the 3500's use a wheel extension adapter to fit the dually style wheels like the rear end does? I want to change my 3500 into a SRW. I just need to know if it's a matter of taking the adpaters off and getting new wheels or if I have to get new rotors etc

Re:SRW Conversion question

I was looking at my 95 and it looks like it just has the adapter on the front. take off 8 bolts and with a little "motivation" it should come off :

Re:SRW Conversion question

On my '95 Dually the front discs and "adaptor" are integral. I considered going to SRW after a tire came apart and the fiberglass fender blew apart.....too much $$$. All new wheels and 2500 discs....I do not remember whats up in the back....new or junkyard 2500 drums??

Re:SRW Conversion question

I have a 97' which is the same as yours. All you need to do is take the front adapters off, and get different rims. If you'll look the bolt patterens are the same both ends of the adapters.

Re:SRW Conversion question

That's what I'm still wondering. I wonder if the 2wd's need new hubs as where the 4x4's are just adapters. I'd be more than happy to give someone my dually fenders, adapters, and wheels for the SRW' ones. I hate buying 6 tires every time. I don't tow as much as I used to at all.

Re:SRW Conversion question

superduty, i'd trade with you (i'll probably be doing a dually conversion in the future). the problem is that you'd probably have to trade beds. D/C cuts the 2500 bed up pretty good when they add the dually fenders (they specifically cut a notch out about 2" tall and 1.5' wide into the wheel wheels).

Re:SRW Conversion question

Trading beds would be fine with me.. but I doubt you'd want my bed. It has a 8 inch long weld in the floor where a crack formed from rough use that I fixed and the bed needs paint badly. Not to mention the hole in the center for the 5th wheel hitch. Although it might balance out the fact that I'd be giving you two extra wheels and two extra tires plus the adapters for just your bed and 4 wheels. LEmme know sometime. I'm up for it. I could perhaps even try getting a pic of the bed. IT's nothing too terrible. It will prolly take a paint job to get the bed to match your cab anyways.

Re:SRW Conversion question

If any of you guys are really interested in trading I am up for it. I want to put my boom and utility body over on to my CTD chasis, but I need to make these changes first.
Any one interested email me. I wouldn't be able to travel but if someone comes my way I have a small shop we could do the transfer in.

Instead of placing personal emails and/or other private info here, you guys might want to take this up in PM's.
