Sound proofing

I purchased a 97 Dodge exteneded cab which is miles quieter than my 89 Dodge but the family is looking for a little more quiet and I hate to spend the money to go up to the 2003 models with the common fuel rail. Has anyone heard of a sound proofing kit to add to what the factory has done to suppress engine noise?

There are sound deadening blankets (lots of $$$$$), or you can attempt to do it from inside the cab by using sound deadener inside the cab (like Dynamat). Really the only two options. Either is going to be either lots of $$$ or lots of work. Good luck with it.

There are a variety of products that you can use. I used BrownBread and dynomat extreme but there are others. I did the doors, the floor and the back wall. There is also a company called ATP Wrap http://www.atpwrap.com/dodge_ram.htm
That makes a kit for under the hood

Hello,

In the July Issue of DieselPower magazine there is an article on soundproofing a 96 dodge. They used a kit from a company called Quiet Ride Solutions (www.quietride.com). I am thinking about this kit.

U might think about rhino lining the floor first, that would help alot with sound deadening. I don't think they'd charge more than $150 if u take the seats and carpet out and clean up the floor board. And some sound deadener mat on that and you'd have a nice quiete ride.

Also do u have a 5spd or auto? Because I noticed alittle increase in sound when I installed the bigger 5spd shift boot compared to the auto t-case boot alone, i'm gonna put sound mat on the underside of the shift boot and around that area.

I did sound proofing on my 97 and posted about it in the General 2nd gen section. It has cost me about $500 for materials (Dynamat is way expensive for what you get, try B-Quiet) and a few days of install time. Results have been very positive from the passengers.

Take a boo in the 2nd gen Non-Dtrain section... I will dig the link..

Thanks a bunch for the advice. The 1997 is much quieter than my 1989 so I figured the factory had done as much as possible to deaden the nosie when they changed body styles. I guess I was wrong.
