sound proofing material

What is the best material to put on the roof, floor and back wall of the cab to reduce the road noise and stuff in the cab. i was thinking dynamat but don't really want to pay an arm and a leg for that stuff if there is something out there better or just as good but less expensive

I got a 25' roll of 24" wide foil backed bubble wrap that I used. Seems to be working good. Got it at Lowes.

Why do you want to sound proof the cab ????

Don't you like the sound of the Cummins pulling max power ??

My 5" stack is just loud enough - as long as I keep the sliding rear window closed.

Some very dense closed cell rubber works well. I just did mine and used some left over aircraft gasket material from work, then put down carpet padding, then carpet. Doors as well. I noticed a huge diff.I was looking on ebay one day and someone had large sections of neoprene for sale. It was advertised as sound proofing/padding and was pretty affordable. I almost went that route, but got lucky w/ work. Dynamat is very similair to neoprene. Oh, I kinda tested what I used by briefly surrounding an airconditioner and listening for the sound diff. and it was quite dramatic. Anyways, just some ideas for some cheaper alternate ideas.

I just put it on the inside of the door, under the plastic door panel, taped to the steel inner door skin to create an airtight seal to keep out the hot outside air. There's usually a sheet of plastic there for that purpose, but it was missing on mine.

sound deadening

I used roofing material. It comes in rolls about 6 inches wide, foil on one side and emulsion on the other, very sticky. It stuck to the roof and hasn't come off. I used that and then good rubber carpet padding. I did the doors also. It sure worked good. I got the roofing material at Lowe's.

There's a guy on the internet which compared several different products and prices find and read the website. Basically, you add mass/weight and it dampens or attenuates noise.
He evaluates the products nicely-Price is compared per/pound and temp that the adhesive holds etc.

I'd say if you can put a seal around the hood- maybe a push on weather strip or via the fenders and add a heavy sound proofing it will make a big difference. Right now, the noise which hits the glass goes right through.. 99% transmission. Go look at benz's or other high-end new cars. The hood is sealed to the fenders when closed, better firewall insulation, fender dampening material. Damening material inside and outside the floor pans. Germans spray a layer on the complete belly and then go back and put these thick-1/2 layer of viscous tar material on the inside of the floor pans. Mat 1/8 in layer layed in the dash and dash panels.

As mentioned, anything will improve things-jut does little remember mass. tape the seams of what every you put down.
>>? Do the newer trucks have an under body panel which we could put on a old 12V? How about on top of the engine? These things make a night and day difference that's why most new cars have them. Cheap and effective!

This is high on my list after the a/c repair, weather stripping, water leak, BHAF , gauges, KDP kit, fuel pin and turbo upgrades!

This site has some good reading in the how to's. Plus they also sell a product to. I have not used this product so I can say how good it is.
