sound proofing for the firewall

Building a chev with a cummins 12 valve. Looking to sound proof my cab a little. Does anyone know where to get rubber with felt on the back that I can mold to the firewall like some of the old factory diesels? sorry if I am in the wrong area but did not know were else to ask thanks for any consideration or advice.

I know some of the guys on RCC and 4btswaps have used bedliner on their firewalls. Not the stuff in a can, the real deal like Line-X. I'm not sure how it holds up near the downpipe, though. You might be able to use some reflective aluminum insualtion there.

I used "B-Quiet Ultimate on my hood and liked the result.

Here's a link: http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html

Good luck!

Couldn't you also just do it on the inside of the cab and have the same effect.

This product has great reviews too - heard about them years ago. Do a search. If I were going to do it and want it done well, this is what I would go with.

I thought about something like this for my Chevy. It appears to be a pre-cut kit that goes inside. I have never tried it but looked interesting. Some Silverados had added insulation under the cowl but most of that stuff is used up and ragged by now.

If it is a 80's model...

The ABS firewall and rear cab cover may help a lot.
