Oil Pressure gauge failure?

Noticed yesterday while driving the buzser sounded, "check gages" light came on, and the oil pressure gauge dropped to the floor. Came back up (light went off), did it again. Since then, it has done it a few more times randomly.

Should I start looking at the gauge itself, or the sensor, or somewhere else?

BTW - what is normal oil pressure on these engines?

Thanks

Generally, if you have oil in the engine - you have pressure....oil pressure sender problems are common with the 5.9 Cummins. You can confirm pressure by screwing a pressure guage into the oil filter housing.

Or, just save yourself the trouble and get a new sender.

Yep, its probably the sender. Mine went out, didn't think I could pull over and shut it down so fast.

I have read about quite a few senders that have failed.

And remember the sender has a special socket. Extra deep. Get that when you get the sender.
