More Power for Towing

What is the No. 1 recommendation for a little more towing power? I have a 1995 Dually with an auto and 150K Miles. The only mod so far is aftermarket air intake. Thanks

Slide fuel plate ahead (not all the way) and mod the turbo, I'd go with a heath diesel turbo master. That is what I did and I pull heavy loads. Made a world of difference. I might also try the 3k GSK. However I have a 5 speed with Southbend HD clutch which helps transfer power better.
Had my mechanic move fuel plate ahead $55 and I installed the Turbo Master about $150. Good mods for the money.

Is a TurboMaster a boost controller?

I would say to slide the fuel plate or buy/grind a new profile into it. Check out TST diesel performance. Here is the web page. http://www.tstproducts.com/index.asp...ATS&Category=6

I would get the TST power kit and a governor spring kit. That will give you another 70-100hp and not create alot of EGTs.

Also, I would recommend gauges if you dont have them. Al least a EGT pyro., boost and trans. temp if its an auto.

The governor spring kit just lets you have more rpms before it defuels. Its nice having more rpms when pulling uphill.

If you start adding power the FIRST thing you need is gauges! An EGT gauge is a must. You can slide your fuel plate forward and loosen the star wheel in the AFC easily by yourself. Before you add too much power your tranny will let you know that you went too far by saying good bye. Get a better TC and valve plate before adding a lot more HP. I invested about 1300 in mine and glad I did. It actually puts HP to the wheels rather than turning it into heat in the tranny. Check your timing, it has probably slipped some.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The transmission has just recently been rebuilt, although I assume to all stock specs and stock parts since it was done at the local AAMCO transmission shop.

The Turbo Master is a waste gate controller. It is spring operated not vaccuum, so no diaphram to go bad. It is adjustable. Heath diesel has them for dodges, its is just not advertised, only chevy. call them.

Fuel Plate from a place like TST for around 200 dollars boosts hp up really easily
