More Power
ok i know how some of you guys feel about taking the plate out of your trucks. but i decided to do so despite the warning. i really don't want to leave the plate out. i was just bored and wanted to know what a zero plate would feel like should i get one. the only problem is that when i took it out it didn't gain any hp or torque. i have friends who have theirs out and when they took it out it made a huge difference. is there any reason why mine wouldn't get any more power out of this?

Re:More Power
Was yours the factory plate oldred or a TST plate? I can see where from stock form to modified it would make some difference, but you have 370's which already give your CTD a good kick in the butt. So taking the plate out might not have made such a noticable difference in your truck.

If you took it out of the stock position try sliding it full forward. I slid my factory plate full forward a few weeks ago and it was a nice noticable difference. Even with a clutch that's about gone. ;D
97:
I would say timing and governor springs. You can feed it fuel but without the rpm's and timing the fuel wont burn. The #10 I install after the 370's + the gov springs made my truck into a bully looking for a fight.

..Preston..

Re:More Power
As turbo thom said,

A #10 plate is almost flat except for the bottom bump and one in the midrange, maybe not a big difference to your engine with the present setup. Also, with the stock governor springs, you're starting to defuel at about 2200rpm. The throttle lever tab isn't touching your plate (or where the plate would be). I bet if you put in the 3K GSK, she'll come alive! I'd put your plate back in at the same time. Why risk breaking that pump pin? I suppose there could be an issue with your pump, in that case a bench test would be in order.

Re:More Power
I agree, then put the plate at half way, with the governor springs, and try it there. I feel if you have the plate all the way forward then you have the wrong plate or you're crazy. With that setup I dyno'ed at 405 and that is conservative. My plate is set 1/16 forward of center with mucho, under control, power . And controllable smoke too.

PT.
