Lost 5th Gear!!
Driven home tonight, i shifted into 5th, got on the throttle, and bam!! Had no more 5th gear. I hope it was the nut, but making that hard of a pop, i don''t know. I read about the "Torque King", Is that going to be my best bet?? How hard is this to install?? The tranny is out of a 03 with about 35k on it so i don't realy want to buy a whole rebuilt tranny. Thanks Chris

Same exact thing mine did when I lost 5th gear. Sounded like the tranny fell out from under the truck. Was just the 5th gear nut. Not too hard to fix, just have to wrestle with the crossmember/t-case.

Sure that you seal the trans up and no leaks, i lost my main shaft after i had fixed the 5th gear nut and let the oil get low. had a new bottle of oil in the seat beside me when the trans broke at about 70 mph, it sucks that it was my fault. good luck on yours.

Yeah, thats where i seen the "torque king" at. I don't want to buy a new tranny, just make the one i got better. When it comes to getting inside of one of these, do you guy's here, do it yourself, or take it somewhere. I would like to learn how to do it myself, be if its way ouy of my leage, then i will take it somewhere.

you can drive it if you have to. Replacing the main shaft requires taking the trans compleatly apart, Its not to bad if you have an understanding of how a trans works just be carefull not to lose the little parts. I have done several but I would say just pull the t-case and tail housing and reinstall the gear and nut use a staked 5th gear nut and lots of red locktight you cant over tighten it.
