My 96 has had a knock at certain speeds for a while 10,000 miles or so pretty loud at times. I am thinking it is the lift pump. Are these pumps spring loaded or what? I havent had any other problems oil pressure is fine thing runs great. just thinking the pump arm is wore I guess I just need to put a pipe on it and see if its where the knock is.

 

Never heard a knock from a worn one, more like a tap.
Usually it's the spring that holds the actuator arm against the cam that goes out causing the arm to tap on the cam. Letting it go too long can damage the cam.

 

yea I guess you could call it more of a tap. Ok I will check it out in the morning I dont want to change a cam any time soon. thanks Infidel.
