I have a 95 2500 with the 47rh tranny and just hit 260,000 this week. I change the oil every 3000 with good ole Rotella 15-40 and a dab of Lucas fuel treatment every tank. I still get almost 20 mpg. No complaints with the engine, but the tranny is another story. Rebuilt it at 125,000. I hate it. It slips, shifs hard, falls out of fourth all the time, and leaks all the way down the frame. I admit I still have the original coolant lines on the tranny and I will clean out the tps sensor this week thanks to your posts. Are these dealer replacement lines on the tranny the way to go or is there something better? With these many miles should the catalytic converter say bye, bye. What affects are there with a straight pipe. Any advise on doin things a little bit better.
ok..
12V with a straight pipe are LOUD! but they sound great!
Manuals are awsome and u can get some wicked sound out of them.. I cannot help you with the auto, BUt the straight pipe will not hurt anything, ull just a lil more noise out of it, and drone, that annoying sound, some people dont like it, infact most dont, so if u dont want noise put a muffler on it, or straight pipe it with a resonator..

Autos and manuals sound awesome straight piped! Do it!! I dont have any drone that I ever notice. Just the sweet souding music of an inline 6
. If you want to get rid of the cat, but dont want it to loud; cut the cat out yourself(most shops wont since its supposedly illegal), then drive it to the shop(unless you can do it yourself), and have them weld a pipe in the place of the cat, and just leave the muffler. It will havce a deeper tone with some more sound, but it wont be loud. If the exhaust is just left under the cab they will rattle your brains out. Straight piped out the rear isnt bad at all in the cab. Just sounds awesome and is loud outside. Get rid of the cat either way.

Sounds like you need to talk to Gorend's, ATS or Suncoast on the tranny. The time to upgrade is NOW. The tranny lines you have are OK if you replace the connecting hardware, do a search for part numberts, I seem to remember some helpfull soul out there putting together a hardware list for connection upgrade. Not expensive and well worth the time. Your line on the hot side to cooler allready has the port in it you can use for tranny temp gauge, so you are ahead of the game there. Check very close for any chaffing of the lines. Some have had a lot of probs with holes rubbed in the line and they fail VERY suddenly. I still have my CAT on for smog check. Does not mean there is anything inside of it!
You have to replace the entire lines, can't replace just the connectors. It's not cheap but a lot better than loosing all your fluid and the tranny with it.

I guess I wasn't clear on the exhaust. I didn't mean a straight pipe all the way back, I'm too old for that. Does the catalytic converter have back pressure like the gassers and do they clog after time like 260,000. Like this site already

Yes. The cat can clog, and will create backpressure. I suggest you just take it off,a nd leave the muffler. It wont be loud; but it will have a nice tone, and should run a little better.
