IP gear

When I pulled my IP gear to change my gear housing (which I still have not got yet) I had the timing marks lined up and made note of where the cam and IP gears mesh each other. I did not realize until after I pulled the gear that there is no key. There is a keyway on the shaft but not on the gear. Can I assume that the shaft has not turned and put he gear back in place when I wrap up my KDP project?

If it was done correctly and the IP was locked at TDC before doing the work you'll be ok. If not it's a flip of the coin...

I did the same thing myself day before when I was tearing down my engine. I talked to a mechanic at the diesel injection shop where I'm getting my injectors tested and he said you just pin the motor and pin the pump at TDC and then install the IP gear. I'll be crash coursing myself on this subject real soon.
