Injector Replacement

I did a search and did not find a "dummies guide to replacement" so figured I would ask. I'm thinking of bumping up my injectors a bit - have not even looked but I'm getting used to the power output now and thinking maybe I'll slip a little more umph under the hood.

So what's the in's and out's of doing it? Any special tools? anything to aware of before hand? I'm suspecting from looking at the engine is just take off line cap, then remove return line (toss washers over shoulder then replace with new ones during reassemblely) and unscrew injector (thinking might be a sealing washer under injector at the seat)???

I'm a newbie to the CTD as you can tell. Then my question is what injectors would be best for me 215's or 370's I assume that the 215's were the stock ones on later year trucks and that the 95MY has smaller ones. Then should I replace the DV's as well or is that something not needed or desired?

Ok I'll stop there...

Check out my gallery it has pictures of an injector removing tool that cost me $0.63 and works great I put a set of DD4s in my truck and I'm very happy with them.

Ok so they are pressed into the head then held by the threads... correct? How are they to reinstall? Just grease 'em up a bit shove or did you make a jig for seating them as well?

Use your front lug and a piece of 1 3/8 inch long pipe that will fit over the injector body.I used an all threaded pipe nipple or masonics pulling tool. Its not bad getting them out.Remove the all the injectors lines ,just leave the clamps on them that hold them together.Remove them for the pump end then the injecto end and they come right off and you dont have to worry about bending them.I thought it was very easy.Just pull out the injectors with the tool you made and add your new washers that come with the install kit .Put some anti sieze on the body and reinstall. The little ball lines it up for you.I used 215 injectors on mine .I didnt want to mess with an exhaust housing or the 181 or 191 dvs right now that you need with a 160 pump and 370s.I know I have all the power my clutch wants.

Yes on the rv pulling, it's just a wee one but still adds a fair load to her (31ft Slide TT 9200~9500lbs). Thanks for the info on the 370's, I don't want be playing the hawk eye thing with the EGT's anymore than I have to now.
