Injector replacement at 70K? Help!
My brothers truck is in the shop. The dealer is claiming that there is a bad injector. The engine only has 70K miles on it and this is the second injector.
They have pulled the head and claim that there was lots of fuel in the cylinder with the bad injector.
If this is going on shouldn't they be replacing all the injectors?
Is this an indicator of a short lived engine?
Has there been any issues with the 2003 standard duty engines?
It is basically a daily driver which pulls a small horse trailer on the weekends.
Thanks for the help, were losing him as a Dodge devotee.

Year/make/model would help. But to answer your question there have been some injector issues more on 04.5 and 05 then 04 and 03.Is it modded like with a fueling box or? How often are fuel filters serviced.Every 15k is the interval.STAR(D.C.engineering)has to auth.injectors.They have the say,not the dealer if one or two or a set etc.Why was head pulled?
Clarification
Sorry, it is an 03. No mods.
I'm not sure why they pulled the head. I think they were checking for scored liners.
Since I posted the first question I searched the archives and found an awful lot of awful posts about these injectors.
What is going on here? These things are not why people buy these trucks.
After I finished reading all those posts I went down and gave my 94/ mechanical truck a big wet kiss!
Thanks again,
Peter

Fuel quality issues more then anything. Not MANY injector issues with the Dodge compared to the Duramax and the 6.0. They DO make a tool to look into the cyls.with out pulling the head. Its pricy but the tool trucks carry them.WE use to borrow theirs.Any how theres also a compression test etc.Just curious of why head pulled before new injector installed and tried. As I stated very few bad injectors on 03s and 04s.They were changed in 04.5 and thats when the issues became more pronounced.
