Mpg and injector pump replacement

What do you guys get for miles per gallon on your rigs? When you first bought your truck and if you had to replace the injector pump or if you even did when was it mileage wise?

What is your millage, and gearratio I think the biggest single thing for those like you and me looking for mpg , there are other things you can do to improve your mpg , but I think that maybe the combined othe may come close but thats many $ and labor later. My ratio is 3.55 & mpg warm
weather was 20mpg , if you have 4.10s thats good for extream towing.

P.S. I not sure but I donnt think changing you injection pump would help unless theres a problum.

I average about 18.5 to 19. I pull a trailer 5 out of 7 days. I do not tow heavy, but often about 2k - 4k total load. The few times I run without a trailer, or an empty one I drive a little too agressive so I could probably do better. Check out the thread I started when I first got the truck and was having trouble.

A friend of mine in Merritt Island, Fl, has a 2001 2500 Auto tanny 3:54 rear, had his injection pump rebuilt after a failure by a Dodge dealer who uses a good Diesel house in Orlando, FL for those type rebuilds.

His mileage before the rebuild was 19-21 on the hwy at 75-80mph. After rebuild its dropped
to 17-18 at the same speed. He's had it back to the dealer inside the 12,000 mile period after installation and of course, no satisfaction yet. He's developed want appears to be a air leak in the system that really makes the truck run bad in the morning when he first starts it.

Its back at the dealer now for that and a transmission shifting problem.

I usually average 21 to 22. No mods and almost always run with no load of tow.
