Re:gov spring kit

Got Smoke?,

Did you try backing off your idle stop bolt? It is quite common to have to reset the idle after the kit. I'd certainly try that first. Now if you screw the stop bolt down all the way, and it's still idling too high, you'll have to back off 1 or 2 clicks. Don't forget the locknut on the bottom of the casting. Mine was very tight or a little stuck, I used a 6 point 10mm socket & 3/8" rachet to break it loose so I could adjust the bolt.

Also consider that part of the benefit of the kit is increased throttle response, so the pedal will be more touchy. The profile of your fuel plate could come into play- the tab might drop off a high point at that certain rpm, giving a rather sudden increase in fuel. "Improved" (application specific) fuel curves are why aftermarket plates are sold.

[undecided]

I plan on calling PDR tomorrow and see what Al or Piers have to say about it. I have a feeling Al's gonna tell me to back the springs off 1 click anyways.

I have instructions from TST on going through the top. Anyone have a set of instructions on going through the side they can scan in and send me? I already put in a cam plate last year and would like to compare the side route based on that.

Thanks, Don
turbospl311@yahoo.com

Re:gov spring kit

VinDiesel, he has 181 delivery valves, they should provide enough fuel to not stumble or stumble very little. of course every pump's tolerances are different...

i hit 3500rpms twice in neutral...wont do that again. i had to back down on the power due to the tranny (high rpms+low pedal -low line pressure- = BAD), but at least i can wind her out in 3rd very good. defore i moved my plate back: WOW.

side of the pump- only way to really do it. a tip i learned was to simple count the number of turns the retainer nut turns until it's flush with the top of the springs.

my idle went up...a little too high, but it starts better in cold weather now!

Tom

Re:gov spring kit

I must say the 370 are just KILLER!!!! & didn't have the mosquito abatement fog like I thought. It burns relatively low smoke at full WOT.
