Gov Spring Kit

Is there a way to modify the GSK by tightening the springs more or loosening them from original specs to make them operate differently?

No not the stock springs, the 3kGSK. If they are tightened more than what my stock springs were will it make a difference in the RPM limit they will govern?

Yes, a couple clicks (I think 2 tighter) will bring the limit up a 100 or 200 rpm.

Gunracer has a theory that if you were to shim the underside of the center spring on the stock gov. springs, it could yield the same results as the 3K GSK. He thinks a 5/16" flatwasher will fit.
I want to try it, but haven't the time or notion.

I had mine a couple clicks tight when i installed them would pull to 3200 or so before it quit fueling. It was a little harder starting though, so i loosened them up couple clicks, and now its starts fine again. I have been thinking about tightening them back up though, becuase i liked the way it ran better with them tighter.

I think if you make them too much tighter though you will increase the idle of the motor. I had mine way too loose on the first try and the truck would barely run, I'm talking 100-200rpm idle. Next we made them too tight and it idled at about 1000rpm. You could just adjust the idle screw on the pump to alter the idle, but I got mine as close as possible before I messed with anything else.
