Fuel Shutdown Solenoid Issues

Fuel Shutdown Solenoid Issues
My truck started having issues starting a while ago. I tracked it down to the fuel shutdown part of the motor. Here is how I solved the problem temporarily. I turn the key to the on position, get out of the truck, manually lift the plunger on the fuel shutdown solenoid, get back in and start the truck. Works everytime, but it's getting really cold and we got 6-7 inches of this week.
So I dont think its the solenoid, cause once is up, the truck doesnt shut off on its own, but will shutdown when the key it turned off. Seems almost like it slowly but surely started having problems lifting itself into the up/on position by just turning the key. But if you do it manually it works everytime.
Any tips? Do I need a relay possibly?

The fuel shutdown solenoid actually has 2 separate coils. One pulls the lever up as you start the truck and the other holds it there until the key is turned off. Sounds like the lift coil is failing. Test to be sure you have power at the contact with the key in start position.
