Fuel problems
Fuel problems
I have a 97 12 valve....on the way home yesterday I stopped to check the straps on the trailer and noticed a large amount of fuel coming out of top of the filter. I made it back home and to the shop to get fixed. My mechanic calls me down and says there is an electric pump pushing the fuel to the motor and it blew 2 new filters he put on. Im thinking that maybe the filter housing is the majority of the problem....anyone else have any idea's.....according to the mechanic...there is 68lbs of pressure running to the top of the filter...
Go to another mechanic, there are no electric fuel pumps on 12 valves.
If you are seeing 68 psi it would only be with the engine running.
Cause would be a jammed shut overflow valve or a kinked fuel return line.
Full lift pump pressure has been known to split open fuel filters and could very well be the cause of your problems.
Given the mechanic is so far off on the pump I wouldn't doubt the real problem is just the filter o-ring.
