Fuel line, how much?

Thanks for help with my not starting issue. Now that I am anxious to replace my fuel lines; How much of each do I need?
I know it is 3/8 for the supply and 5/16 for the return but approximately how much should I budget for?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

i used 11' of each when i did mine. I did away with the metal lines and just replaced them all with rubber hose from the tank to the IP. like you said 3/8 and 5/16

'96 and earlier take more than the later models.
I usually buy two feet of each size.

I'm Confused.

Thanks guys but there is quite a disparity between 11' and 2'.
Bill, I thought your recommendation was to replace it all the way back to the tank?
When you do that(replace from the pump to the tank) do you leave the old steel lines in place?
How did/do you support the rubber hose?
I'm sure I could come up with something but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

Thanks in advane.

Bills 2' is for replacing the bell housing section. Replacing all of the line from the tank to IP is at least 10' of line i think. Just set a tape measure on the ground at the front tire, run back to the front of your truck bed and add on 5' and that should be plently. Too much line is obviously better than not enough. Just remember your buying two seperate lengths or 5/16 and 3/8 of !diesel rated! hose. You may end up having to buy spools of either, i had difficulty finding even diesel rated hose locally. Use SS hose clamps to connect, i doubled up mine. I left my steel lines hanging, and secured the new line to it with some zip ties. My return line connection (5/16?) was made behind the injection pump/ intake area next to the block. The supply went onto the fuel strainer. I think it was a barb fitting. Im sorry but i cant remember the exact details, but it was pretty self explainitory when i was doing it. Good luck, Jake

I got my fuel line at West Marine locally, they had it in stock and sell it by the foot. Got a box of plastic wire loom from NAPA to run the hose inside of so I can tie-wrap it to the frame and not worry about chaffing... now if I was just brave enough to drop my tank and pull the module and fix it... the fittings on top of my tank look too corroded to reuse - so I'm looking for a replacement fuel tank module. If anyone runs across a servicable one holler!

Thought you were referring to just replacing the stock hose.
You are correct, I never replace just the stock hose anymore, go all the way to the tank. I do it exactly the same way VACHZHD said.
Hose length varies between 11' and 14' depending on if you have a extended cab or not.
Best to measure before ordering and add on a couple of feet.
