Fuel leak

On my 97 dodge I have sprung a leak, its coming out from behind the pre filter/fuelheater. I deleted the heater trying to fix the problem but that did not fix it. It only leaks when its running and its for sure not coming from the main filter housing. Its really hard to see down in there. Any thoughts?

Very common for the return line to leak back there. Best bet is to replace it with rubber close to the overflow valve. Mine ended up leaking at the little tabs that support the line.

Do you replace it all the way back to the tank?

That's the smart way to do it to avoid future problems. Abandon the entire stock feed (3/8") and return lines (5/16") and replace with high quality hose like this, takes about 14' of each> http://www.mmimarine.com/mmi/index.p...em=&cat_id=146

Otherwise you need 2' of 5/16" id hose just to replace the line in red below.

interesting. Mine sprung a leak in that very spot today. Where do you connect the hose to at the fuel tank? there are steel lines coming out of the sender right?

The sender has plastic "nipples" that the factory lines clip to.
I am guessing you could clamp hose over them.

Yes you can. I just cut my quick connect end off and clamped around it. Mine ended up being the return line right at the back of the pump was leaking. It had a hole in it. Its a real pain to get in there to change it out . My truck has a flatbed on it and made it easy to get to the top of the tank. If you have a bed it could mean dropping the tank or pulling the bed.
