Fuel gauge working intermittently

I've noticed that since an accident I had about 2 months ago my fuel gauge wil read intermittently. It will either be a good reading or it will go down to E and just sit n the E line. What could this be? my only guess would be the fuel level sensor on the sending unit in the tank. Or that the fuel float arm got bent in the accident. It was a decently hard impact.

Thanks in advance

The sending unit float is a very common failure on these Dodges. About a 75 dollar part at the dealer, 4797738 fits the 94-97.
