AC blows intermittently...

On my '97 3500 DRW sometimes I jump in the truck and the AC works fine, blows cold and hard. Sometimes I jump in and the AC compressor clicks on, but nothing coming out of the vents. Is it a blower motor problem, switch problem, or ???

Yesterday it worked on a trip into town, I turned the truck off, about 5-minutes later got back in and the AC didn't work, and after about 10-minutes of driving and it was working again.

Sounds like you're low on refrigerant

I don't think so. When the AC works, it works good. It seems like the blower motor to me because it won't even blow in vent or defrost mode.

Hey Tex,

It's your blower motor. Next time it doesn't run take something and give it a good whack underneath the dash. I'll bet it kicks on. I'm on my 3rd blower motor. The original lasted 5 years and @130K miles. I bought a new one from O'reilly's that lasted 6 months before it went out. I bought it through a friend so no warranty. I now run a used one from a junk yard that's still kickin' after 4 years.

definatly blower motor, just takes a little tap, most of the time if I would leave the a/c on and start the truck the blower would not work If I had it off and start the truck then turn the blower to high it would

Did it the other day, I told my gal to "kick the little black part under there" and the AC started blowing good and cold. Just a blower motor, no biggie, thanks for the replies.
