frozen thottle, help a nebbie quick

this is my forst post on this site. i mainly run turbododge.com for my charger. but i just recently got a bug to get my dads 97 3500 moving. got it fired right off after sitting for 2 years.

the problem is the throttle is stuck at idle. its not the cable its the throttle its self. i have PB plasted it will not help. any ideas?

also the tranny is toasted ( i think ) with only 88k on the clock. i told him not to get a auto.

The is a recall on some 98's for throttle linkage. Take the VIN by your dealer and have them check. If it is one of them, new throttle ends are supplied. They will be the new and improved ball and stud type.

Did you try moving the throttle linkage right on the side of the pump itself to see if it worked?

why did it sit for 2 years?

truck sat for two years.

Tranny quite working and we had no need for the truck. I'am not sure what I want to do as far as the tranny goes. Option 1 replace the auto. or have a manual put in.

I just had to repair this myself, The recall only covers the cable that frays, important to do that too.

Your problem will most likely be the hard line linkage, it has 2 ball ends that for some reason tend to bind up.
Order the replacement( I just paid $34 ) pop the old ones off with a screw driver or somthing, carefull not to bend the linkage while doing so.
Then grease the new ends and pop them on, you will have to re-adjust your idle with the stop nut on the back, as well as tweaking the linkage arm itself.
