Bad Oil Leak. KDP???? Pictures

I got home at about 5:30 today. Went back outside at 6:00 and I see a pool of oil on the pavement. Oil is coming from around a pulley that is down and to the right of the alternator. What do you think? Seal, cracked case?

Pull off your belt and remove that pulley (2 bolts). Look at your case and youll see a noticable crack if your kdp got you. Check my pics for example

I just degreased the engine so I could see where the oil is coming from. It's from the upper left part of the main shaft that comes out of the engine and drives the fan. Just to the right of the picture I posted.

If it is in fact killer dowel pin damage, what would a repair shop charge to fix it? I don't feel comfortable tackling a project that big. Also, if the price was too high for me, would salvaging the truck be smart? What kinda money could I get for a truck like this with damage like this?

It's a '96 2500 club cab long bed, 232,000 miles, fair condition.

I've read that it's a $2K bill for a shop to fix it, but I don't know for sure.

Smile Sorry To hear about the KDP

Depends how bad the crack ...I've pulled afew apart in the past couple ...It's not the right way ... but you can remove the pully and fan mount bearing and use some JB weld epoxy ... make sure it's really clean .
Thats if it's just cracked ...if its missing pieces you have to make choice what to do .
If you like the truck ..I have the same truck and I love the fuel mileage and dependablity of the 12 valve .
I have a 1996 12 complete engine with 108,000 for 2 grand .
Good luck
Greg
