Auto's is it normal

New to the whole slushbox thing, and I was wondering if this is normal.

Bout 50 mph tranny takes forever to shift into OD, normally I have to let off the throttle before it will shift. Just starting to get aggervatin.

Thanks

I don't own an auto, but I was driving a friend's '00 with an Auto. It did no such thing, so I think something is screwy with yours... can't say what.

My '98 12v was the same way when I first got it (about 170K miles). I had actually found an article somewhere that outlined testing the voltage on it using a voltmeter & "probes". After I decided it was bad, I swapped that out (if i remember right, it was $150+) & it's been great ever since.

mine would do that a little too occasionally, and the drop out of lockup thing also. i'd had to adjust my tps before, so i did it again. at 1st it helped then started up again. i even tried the capacitor thing. completely lost od and L U. dumped that and changed brake switch, didn't help, tried adjusting Vltg 2 more times and replaced tps monday. no more delayed shifts or unlocking.
read apost bout someone gettn theirs from oreilly that matched pep boys price. i did exactly the same thing. 129.99 and had in 1.5 hrs. fixed in 2!!
no more tps blues.
there are others w/much more knowledge here though. i'm curious, but green.
i did discover somethin usefull. for my L U switch i soldered the connection. maybe my solderin irons old, but was kinda a pain. for my other fixits i used a silver epoxy, along w/crimping, from an electronics store designed to make cold connections. good to 195 Degrees. $40 on line, 20 locally.

good luck

john

Thanks much, I might just check the voltage on my tps and see where that takes me.

i used some tap splice connectors and ran about 18" of wire up to fender area. didn't have any luck fishn w/the probes in the tps connector. i've read some folks, don't remember if was for the same reason, fished arount w dvm probes in pcm cover and made things worse. i left the wires in place, taped them up real good and have an easy way to check vltg at any time. hopefully won't need to.

Mine did that before. I had to have the throttle in just the right spot to get OD. A new TPS fixed it. I'd start by checking the TPS. Use the SEARCH function and you should find tons of information about the TPS.

Thanks again guys, I adj the tps on my old 24v back when we were all throwin around the whole (make your own high idle) after all that thought mine ended up being a PTO cable lol.

Didn't have a chance to do it tonight as I was painting a tin roof of my grandfathers buildin whew hoo lol. But I will def get this done here pretty soon, flipin on the lockup switch and lettin off the throttle is def gettin old. Sorry for the same old ?'s, the whole fluid couplin drivin's still kinda new to me as I've always been a hardcore standard fan.

Mine used to do that, and when I put my 3k in it shifted a lot better through all the gears. Id say go ahead and put a GSK in it and see if it helps. Even if it doesent, you will love it. How come you sold the 5 speed for an automatic?
