Normal Oil pressure and Auto Idle up ??'s

Just went from an 01 CTD with oil press. of 40-60psi all the time to a 05 CTD that idles at below 30 and at highway spds. gets just above 40. Is this normal with the new endinges?

Also, is there a way to turn on the auto high idle without going to a dealer?

thanks

2005 slt 3500 dually auto-t, no mods

Are these oil pressures from the factory gauge??? I believe that factory gauge only shows what it thinks the pressure should be not what it really is. With my aftermarket gauge installed I see as high as 75 psi at cold idle down to ~25 psi at warm idle. Driving down the highway I see about 67 psi @ 2200 RPM.

ya it was with the factory gage. I have since seen some postings stating what you have said. Thanks,,

On my 05 with no mods at all, mine usually runs just over 40# @ 70 and about half way up the dial @ idle.

The OEM gauge is fake; it just shows you what you want to see.

My real gauge runs 75 cold, 50 going down the road and around 25 at idle warm, with the bypass.
