Yup, a 96 with 240k. He is an amsoil fan and has used it it routinely. Looks like he has pulled a trailer most of it's life. He said zero accidents and in very good condition.

What do you guys think? Price? High miles? I'm gonna insist the truck is not started before I get there. What kind of oil consumption would I see?

Crap, where do I start?!!

Thanks for the reply.

Blow by- That's the smoke (or lack there of) from the oil input tube. Correct?

The front end. That would be by crawling underneath and looking AT those joints to see for movement.

Other than blow-by, track bar and links CAN be fixed. That doesn't bother me too much.

What about the price?

Sounds a little high $$. I paid 8800 for my 97 with 160,000 mi. A few years ago. It was super clean. Just look at similar online. But if it's what u want and can afford it, go for it.

Bring a jack

Jack up each front wheel indepentently and start wiggling them from top to bottom and side to side. Shouldn't be "much" play. Drive down the road at 60 and slam on the brakes. It should track straight and not shake or pulsate. Get it up to 60 and put the hammer down until about 80 looking for the "death wobble." Tranny should shift like it is supposed to. You will know if it doesn't. That's a bunch of miles even for it's age. I know, I have a couple of them and looking for some more to give to the kids. Great trucks and I'm thinking they will last a long time; if taken care of. Has the injection pump been modified? It's fun to drive that way but it has a bunch of un-intended consequences; all the other parts start to fail. cd

LOL, I am trying to get 5500 for my 97 that needs a TC, have the TC, just no time to put it in.

And that is a 124 K mile truck....... So I think he is high.

I paid 6K for my 139K Green version of my 97 I am selling.....but it needs 5th gear fixed.

Yep, I think if you're going to sell a truck in this economy you are going to take a serious beating.
