How much will a stock 47rh support
Looking to swap one into my first gen. the two i was looking at were rebuilt 40,000 miles ago with stock parts. My truck would be around 365-400 hp/800tq if the trans would support it. Will i destroy a stock 47rh with those number? I plan on rebuilding it after a couple of months just don't have the funds right now.
If you leave it stock...i give it till the first time ya hammer it. i fried mine with a stock 160 horse. twisted the input right off.that is why they were so de-tuned in the early years, stock autos wouldn't hold up.
About 230/400 is the normal limit as I recall. They die quickly with the low end torque the Cummins makes.
If you have to run one stock, I suggest really pulling fuel by moving the plate in installing the stock plate until you can build the trans. Otherwise, you will build it sooner.
Your choice. Hope it works out.

so what is the week part of the 47rh? I currently have a stock 518 and it just does not put the power to the ground because of the torque converter but it is not destroying anything.
