So I was wondering, I found a really good deal on a 99 at the wrecking yard. About $1000 for it. Don't know what is wrong with it. But I guess my question is would it be hard to swap the motors from my 97. I love the 12 valve motor, but could use the quad cab. Would his be worth it, or just deal with the 97 body style?????

 

A swap wouldn't be to bad. A 12v Cummins is about the easiest swap there is. I'm guessing that you would swap your DTT with it? (Speedo and tach work different, those would be the two hardest parts.

 

just swap the wiring with it.... and use all the gauges/ cluster from your 97 into the 99...


for $1000 i think it would be worth it. will make your truck worth a fair amount more if you ever go to sell it. just a lot of time involved in the swap.... my guess would be you could do it in 3-4 days of work if your good.

 

Is your 97 a Club Cab? The Quad doors are nice, but a bit overrated and probably not worth the effort of that swap, in my opinion.

 

Yeah it is a club cab, and I have 3 kids, one is 7 one is 2 and one is 8 months, so hard to get them in and out. That is why I was thinking about the swap. Yes I would switch the DTT as well.
