Wheel backspacing

Just wanted to get some input about backspacing. I am gonna put a 2" leveling kit on my 04.5 CTD and wanna put 35x12.5x17 on. What type of backspacing do i have to have on the wheels? If anyone has this setup please let me know.
Thanks
Bobby

the closer you can get to 6" BS, the better.

Stock wheels?

I had 315/70R17's on the stock wheels...

Rubbed the control arms at full lock...

Don't know off hand what the stock back spacing is...

Stock backspacing is right around 6 in. , if you stay close to that you`ll be O.K. (like was already stated)...the less you have (like 4.5) the more likely you`ll end up with rubbing problems with the fenders , and lower valance on the bumper , as well as slinging stuff all over the side of the truck , due to the wheels hanging out more.

For some reason 17" wheels with 6" backspacing are very hard to come by, Centerline does have them and American Racing has some with 5+". Step up to the 18" range and there are a ton of choices XD wheels has some 18X9's with 6 3/8" of backspacing and there's lots more choices to be had. Almost any tire you'd be looking at is available in an 18" size as well.

The best backspacing for that size tire is about 5 3/8 inches and 8 1/2 inch width.

That is the size of the H2 wheels and they are a good size wheel for our trucks. Even better than stock because they will handle the 315 70 17 with no rubbing. Any less offset and they would rub the fender, more and they might hit the control arm. Any narrower is too narrow for that wide of tire. A nine inch width would probably be best of all. A 9 inch width with 5 3/8 backspacing.

If you want to order some wheels get ones that fit an H2 in the stock size. Not H2s if you don't ike them, but the H2 size in another design you like.

I found some 20x8.5 with 5.25 backspacing, should be just about right on for keeping the wheel about in place, if I understand this correctly?
