Your first mistake was tring to fix the pump yourself.I work in a in a fuel shop and see this all the time with out the right tool and know how you can
make a mess. If the bushing is not suported when you take it out and install the new one, you can cause a leak and now you need a new top cover.

Moving this over to 1st gen for more exposure. Several of our members have fixed this leak themselves, hopefully one of them will chime in.

i made a plate with a piece of ready rod through the bushing and tightened it down pulling the bushing out. so that fubared the top cover. it did not crack. it looked like there as glue holding it in. if i need a top cover can i get a part number for that piece. thanks guys

I've done 2, the first one was mine and it leaked after the 3200 spring install, the 2nd was just a preventative thing. And I just used a bench vice with sockets to support both sides of the cover.

How close to binghamton are you? There's a shop here that can likely get what you need...and I'd be glad to have a look and see of I can help. Sorry I don't have the pump top part #
