oil leaking from drain plug
Ok, Ive tried a new washer and a new drain plug on the engine oil pan. still has a leak. is it possible that the pan is cracked around the threads? I can get it to stop!
any ideas?

Ok this happened to me before, you can:
A. put some teflon tape on the threads, keep the tape low on the plug (you don't want any teflon tape in your oil).
B. get one of those quick drain valves from geno's with a little teflon and never have to unthread it again.
the teflon does work.
good luck!

Most likely your oil pan is distorted from overtightening.
What I do in this case is what Timmy suggested, use a aftermarket drain valve. I've never used teflon tape because I've seen how petro products tend to melt it. I clean the pan very well and use RTV.

You may want to take a close look at your drain plug for crack also as mine was cracked almost all the way around. I also bought a new washer that wouldn't seal, so then I tried a EZ drain and the plug ordeal is history.

As was mentioned, your oil pan is probably distorted from overtightening. I have "repaired" this on several trucks by adding an o-ring to the drain plug in addition to the washer.

Use a nylon washer in place of the stock one. Problem will be solved permanently. Can get them and drain plugs here:
