radiator drain plug leaking

O.K. I have searched several different ways to pull up history of radiator drain plug leaking. Even tried "pitcock leaking". I was able to find a thread with the replacement part number. Now can't seem to locate thread.
One of the threads even mentioned use only fleetguard fluid due to metal corrosion from anything else, reguardless of the color.
Thanks in advance.

Its plastic and if it has been cracked due to improper removal you will have to replace it. You may be able to replace the O-ring and stop the leak.

They take about a quarter turn and then pull straight out, another quarter turn and they will come out completely IIRC. Most try to unscrew it and break it all to he$$.

The search safety feature on the site won't let you search the proper term, unfortunately.

Try other terms in your search like "drain plug" or "drain valve", maybe...

I wish someone around here could link to a dealer parts program that we could access to get part numbers and streamline parts hunting...

The MOPAR radiator drain plug (petcock)part number is # 4644269 and available through a local dealer. However, the petcock is also marketed by Dorman as Dorman part # 61134. Advance and Autozone should have this available in their "Help" aisle..if not ask at the parts counter. NAPA should have it available as well.

On the 2nd gen trucks, whenever I opened a rad drain petcock I made a habit of removing it completely and throwing a new o-ring on. Got burnt too many times by getting the new coolant in and bled the air out, then finding a small drip from the drain.

Trying to size replacement o-rings is one of my bugaboos. Do you happen to know the dimensions on that o-ring?

Disconnect the lower radiator hose instead.

Not sure of the dimensions, but I remember it being either a #9 or 10 in the kit. It was a common generic o-ring anyway, and a partsman should have no trouble matching it up if you bring in your old one.

Well went to N.A.P.A. this morning, they crossed the *4644269
with their P/N 607-1372. It looks like it is a insert, twist 1/4 to 1/2 turn to seat. My first thought was that the diameter of the replacement is slightly larger then the one in the rad. now. I could be wrong, I mean when you have fluid running down your back when looking at the leak, It's easy to get confused. We shall see. Way to cold outside to change it now. Will let u know.

Well changed the plug, the differance was that the tab on the new plug was a little longer. Had to get a younger person to remove and install the new plug, due to intercooler metal duct interfering with the plug. (looks like something might have shifted, causing, interferance.) Anyway got the plug replaced, serviced her with Shell 50/50 mix, Drove it about 30 miles and checked. No leaks, temp seemed to be normal. Just hope I did not blow a head gasket or cracked the head when it overheated. (full scale overtemp).
Won't know untill I take a long trip and check fluid level and oil for increase in level.
Thanks again guys for the P/N updates.
