Lift Pump ?

Does everyone else's lift pump spit a little fuel out of the priming plunger if you push it a few times? I replaced my rubber return line yesterday because it was ruined and in the process of trying to prime the injector pump, I covered my hand in diesel.

Is that normal? If it's not, could this be a possible cause of poor gas mileage? (~13.5-14mpg)

Thanks guys,
Shawn

I don't recall mine doing that, and the rubber boot is ripped on mine too. If it seeps out fuel while just running, then yes it could drop your mileage.

No not normal. You have an O ring in that plunger that is leaking. Probabaly allowing air into the system, but, sorry, not much help on the size of the O-ring, but, it can be replaced. Cheap fix once you know the size, I'm sure someone who knows the size will give you that info shortly. Good luck, KD

i second that it should not leak at all. If youre going to pull it, you might as well put a new one.

Take the advice of infidel, use studs to reinstall. It will save alot of swearing.

2-8mm x 30mm 1.25 pitch and nuts

I got mine at a tractor store, My local NAPA was around $138.

Yes the stud method, mine were metric, and I also removed the starter for more room.
