Clutch?

I'm thinking i'm gonna be needing a new clutch. When i press the clutch pedal in the bad noise stops and when i let out it returns? Im thinking is possibly a throwout bearing. If so i might as well replace the clutch and just put a whole kits which should include throwout bearing, pilot bushing, pressure plate. 200,000 miles on the truck now. My uncle owns a NAPA store and the replacement is a 12 1/4 inch clutch. From what ive heard on here stock should be a sachs 13 inch. he found a ceramic 13 inch he can get. What are my options?

I would think he could get a Sach 13 inch at his Napa store for you.
The amount of contact material on those Sachs is a lot more than the average clutch.
I have had them side by side next to a LUK from a 2nd gen and the Sach looked much "beefier"
I got a price quote of under $400 for a Sach 13 inch at my local Napa / Bond store a few months ago.

use it as a daily driver and to pull 14k pounds 3 or 4 times a month. the ceramic clutch he priced wasnt a full ceramic it was only partial ceramic material.

If it makes noise with the clutch OUT then it's not the throwout bearing. Possibly the input bearing on the transmission. Gurus, what's the bearing in there that's suspect to failure?

Whats your plans for added power?

I run a valair dual disc organic, seems to work well so far. Holds anything i can throw at it (rated for 550hp/1200ft.lbs). It is $$ though.

I pulled 10k trailer behind me this summer for 2500kms and i worked it hard, clutch never flinched.

Most likely the pilot bearing in the flywheel is gone, common.

i was afraid it may be a tranny problem. the tranny itself has been making a slight noise since a month or two ago and it has done nothing but gotten worse as i drive it. so it may be the input bearing. or i may have a couple different problems going on at once. guess i just need to get it to my buddy's shop and break into it.

Both the throwout bearing and the pilot bearing are NOT spinning when the clutch is engaged. They would make noise with the clutch disengaged if they were bad, that's with the peddle down.
