Be careful in Virginia

Got pulled over tonight in my 06 truck. Only reason they were looking for trucks with the dpf gone. Once he realized mine was a 06 he let me go. They also are looking if I had a muffler. The officer told me if it came from the factory with a muffler you have to keep it. He also told me they had a big meeting monday looking for diesel trucks with dpf deletes and straight pipes.

With his mods I wouldnt have figured he had the DPF installed on his truck, but if the popo were looking for it they shoulda known that an 2006 has a dpf or as other call it a cat.

A DPF and a catalytic converter are two different things. The '06 did have a cat, but it did not have a DPF. The DPFs were not used until '07.5 when the 6.7L was released.

Technically, they could get picky and look for removed cats as well, but that may not be what they're focused on. They may only be looking for DPFs and mufflers.

My bad... I thought you were kidding.

Yeah, what aggie said about the DPF. I'll be more than happy to go into more detail if you like.

Yeah, I've been pulled twice for stacks. I did go to the State Police office in Suffolk and two troopers there said as long as I had a muffler, which I do, the stacks should not be an issue.

Cali style enforcement is coming to a town near you. Nothing like that here yet though. I rarely see a smoking light duty diesel truck smoking here. Now the big rigs...
