That's my main problem with the iPhone, no active navigation. I can get around with just the maps and directions OK, but there are times I'm really wishing it was doing active nav. But not really keen on shelling out the $100+ for the new TomTom app that supposedly does it until it has some time to get a decent set of reviews.

Good to know. The one feature I liked on the TomTom was the lane guidance that told you which lane to be in for a turn/exit. But that's pretty minor around here anyway. I'd rather have the maps be up to date (with easy ability to update later).

well my hot shot went well. kinda.... My injectors are TIRED. but a little bit of two stroke oil keeps them happy. truck stumbles and dies when returning to idle after running at 2300rpms for 7 hours.

So I will keep them lubed until I get 3K for new ones.

So I left (saginaw) around 8pm. on Wed. got to El Paso thur 540 am unloaded and back on the road by 630 AM got to frisco around 5pm thurs for turkey dinner with the siblings. what a long trip. but I made some $$

I can see the want for a concrete bed liner now.. truck road like a Cadillac the whole way there with 2400 lbs. in the bed. so happy I did not have to drag the GN .

Got pulled over... I told him where my fire arms were and I stepped out of vehicle while he unloaded them. I had more than him he was very nice and gave me a warning ( 72 in a 60mph zone, at 3 AM)

I also got pulled over last week for no muffler and dark window tint. written warnings on that stop.

Nice times!
El Paso & back in 23 hrs! Ahhhhh... to be young again!
I've made downtown El Paso once, from Durant, in 10.5 hrs with 2 half hr stops. 705 miles!
Did you fall asleep in the mash potatos over turkey dinner?
How'd you find someone working at 5 am on Thanksgiving day... to off load you??

I almost did.... the worst part was after going to sisters and eating I went back to the house and got ready and went to the bar with the fella's .. So I was actually up wed 0800 hrs to fri 0300 hrs (43hrs.) with only drinking 1 "5 hour energy" drink in there. I am still recovering from that.

when I showed up at the shipping place there was one salesman/ office guy there and I thought I was going to have to wait until 0730 to be unloaded, but he had a go with the forklift... INTERESTING. I removed the tailgate just in case.

I think El Paso was very pretty driving into at night. lit up like crazy, and then on the drive home I realized I was surrounded by mountains which was neat. I enjoyed the views.

Looks like I'm out for a December meet. I've got a project at work finishing the weekend of 12/12 and will hopefully be working at our new house the weekend of 12/19 to get our storage container unloaded. We're closing on 12/17 and will hopefully have painters starting that afternoon. So until they finish, I'll be unloading and sorting everything from the container into the garage.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have a USB 3.5" floppy disk drive? Not something in real high demand and I didn't want to have to buy one if someone had one I could borrow to try and pull some data off some old disks I have here.
Yup still have one... shoot me a pm addy and I'll get it to ya

After getting the head all cleaned up I found a good number of cracks! No big surprise there! 3 injector bores cracked and 4 of the valve seats have cracks... Eh... Threw on a coat of paint (sure is a pretty cracked head!) and back on the new gasket... Got the studs all in and lightly torqued (wrench died an i was getting tired... Too much other work Thanksgiving weekend... anyways have a couple new PI wrenches in the mail!! woo hoo) Have to get the rockers milled yet, maybe have it back together next weekend... Overall very pleased with the shape of the top end of the motor!! Cant wait for future things to come!!

This will double or triple your fluid capacity (Depending on how big of a bottle you get) and make sure you don’t air lock anything…mainly your master cylinder. When your done, quickly pull the bottle off and cap. You might spill a small amt so have a rag under...and flush with water.

I would look into getting rotors as finding places that will turn them (AND do a good job at that!) is getting harder to find. Plus rotors are getting cheaper as well and come with lifetime wntys (As are pads now???). Meaning if they ever warp or need turning they will replace them for free. (Check NAPA) Most O'Reilly Auto Parts have a rotor lathe.....but i dont trust most of the kids they have running the place to turn them for me....the one in Gainesville let me turn my own stuff....i just need to get a lathe some day.....actually quite fun to use. Plus if your rotors really do have 125,000 miles on them....they might be getting on the thin side of good...or have one heck of a shoulder that needs to be taken off at the edge. Or some pretty deep “record groves” that are hard to cut out.

Dan thanks for all the info!! Yes, I was planning on using DOT 3. And maybe I should buy some new rotors........I just figured mine were prob fine. Guess im just easy on brakes to go 125K on the originals. Most of my miles I guess are highway commuting during non-traffic times....but that will be changing somewhat after Jan. 6th when I go to a day schedule.

So if I buy new rotors.....and 3 quarts of DOT 3......and already have the new pads....I should be good to go right? Nothing else im missing here, correct?

Agree with Dan....
New Rotors makes sense after 150,000+ miles.

Definately a go on the 3 quarts. I'd rather have to much for sure....than have to stop in the middle of the job to go buy more. Thank you sir.

I will start shopping some rotors and see what it will set me back.

I agree that Garmin has great GPS products. Last spring I bought a Garmin 760 from Amazon.com for $240.00 with a leather carrying case included. Im sure they are cheaper now. But I have been happy with the features, maps etc.

Justin....I'd stick with Garmin. Amazon has probably as good a price as anywhere on them.

Guys, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was much better than wonderful! I just got back in town from seeing Mom and other family in North Mississippi.

I have a MAJOR announcement to make. Sometime early next year, I am about to join the rest of the recently married TX DTR #8 guys.....Brian, Mike, and Justin.

My girlfriend Jana and I have been dating for 3 months and fell in love early on. Well I proposed to her Saturday night in Memphis at "The Spaghetti Warehouse" restaurant......which is where we met in Plano, TX, 3 months earlier, to the day. She said "YES!" After we gathered our composure in the restaurant....I had a "Cinderella" horse drawn carriage reserved and waiting for us out front which we rode for about an hour around downtown Memphis and by the Mississippi River. We spent the rest of the evening at The Peabody Hotel and walking Beale Street in Memphis.

I had met her Father and other family on Thanksgiving Day....and asked her Father's blessing a few hours after meeting him, which he gladly gave. He is a super nice guy...of 83 years young! Then Friday we took off to Mississippi in the ole black Cummins and with a hidden diamond engagement ring. She had no idea this was coming......and I don't know how she wasn't on to me....but somehow I pulled this off without her knowing about it in advance.

Jana is the same age as me, but looks considerably younger, imo. Very attractive....much, much better than I deserve! She works in the health insurance field (at least until obama knocks it all out of business!) and also as a part-time professional violinist. She has a 14 year old daughter who lives with her part of the time. Jared loves them both too! We will all be living at my current residence in McKinney once we set the date, get her N. Dallas condo sold, and get all our ducks in a row for the wedding. Anyway, we are in love and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. I am a blessed man.........and she has made me the happiest man on earth.

From my experience...driving around all 48 states (except MI, WI, MN), I-10 from San Antonio to L.A. is as pretty a drive as anywhere.
From Dallas.... I-20 is dull and ugly till you get on I-10, just west of Pecos!

2nd Gen 24v is least likely to have bad cracks?? Hard to believe after seeing my factory head..... 24v - best of a poor lot!
