DTR #8 November and December 2009 Thread
And it will be convenient since I won't have to remove the old one.

Working on it. The painters finished on Monday, carpet cleaning was today. Tomorrow a little new furniture shows up. Otherwise, we did get the storage container unloaded this weekend, so everything is in the garage. Getting an enclosed trailer on Christmas Day from my wife's uncle so that we can work next week on getting everything moved from our storage unit in Plano.
I bet Dom had his fill of steak!
Thanks to Brian & Co. for their hospitality - wish we'd been able to make it.
Rowland, I can't believe Blake didn't show up... that's not like him.
Robert, I wouldn't worry about your rotors - I've replaced just the pads many times on 4WD trucks; sometimes I just grind the rotors smooth on the truck, but I got in the habit of leaving the deep grooves in my 2nd Gen and letting the pads wear to match - the extra surface area reduced the pucker factor required during panic stops.
Helps the rotors last longer before they're worn in half too - only on my 4th set, and they were take-offs!
Technically, though - Dan is correct:
Always turn or replace rotors when changing pads! (a little de rigueur PSA, there.

We had the biggest fire ever at this GTG. Brian and Oscar had a hugh brush pile we lit off and I'm surprised no one called the Fire Dept! Ground was soaked and Brian's big John Deere (and Jason's 03) got stuck for a while. At least 2 foot ruts!
Had some pics but accidently erased them...sorry!
Guess you just had to be there!

Thanks again to Amy and MOM for the all day feast!

)No steak this time. It was Chicken! The meal was great but I have to admit, I had visions of that steak dinner on my way down (not knowing what we were having for sure).......and I missed it!
Thanks muchly for the meal Amy!Mike thanks for the confidence in my rotors/brakes. They seem to be fine. I'd say they stop quicker and with less fade than before. IM prob gonna take the new rotors back to the Dodge house for a refund and just buy some more 126K miles or so from now. Maybe 150K more! Actually this set prob won't last as long since I will be in more stop and go rush hour traffic when I switch to a day shift next month.
Thanks again to RJ and Brian for their assistance and expertise!

Faux pas???? Seriously, that is the first time I think I have seen that used here
Dan is too edumacated to hang around the rest of us
faux pas [ˌfəʊ ˈpɑː (French) fo pɑ]
n pl faux pas [ˌfəʊ ˈpɑːz (French) fo pɑ]
a social blunder or indiscretion
[from French: false step]
Merry Christmas ya'll.

No worries on the brakes... None... mayonly get 120k out of this set of pads... They will bed in and match the rotors in short time...
So glossy smooth as to not even catch a fingernail and have them repalced is retarded... Turned is a matter of opinion. Used to be 'always turn or repalce' not so much the case anymore now that pads/ rotors actually wear evenly without carving an old vinyl record in the rotor. I bet they dont make noise, feel just like the old set, last close to the same miles, and you will never know the difference. JMHO
Ya really need to fix my leaky FWA valve to get those front wheels pullin better again (of course that would ahve just make the ol girl sink faster!
lol) At least she didn't get stuck IN the fire...
Merry Christmas everybody!!

He is using the same lines that I am (maybe .093 instead of my .084) and clearing the grid heaters was a pain, but nothing to get too worked up over
Had to dive towards the fire as you popped out of those ruts.Once saw a customers monster Steiger Tractor stuck in a field up to axles (new mexican employee driving). Rear end sank another foot overnight. Took two articulated JD 9100's to pull it out.
Brian, sorry I erased those pics.

Snow on the way to make for a wintery Christmas! Hope all have their best ever!

Hey guys, I just wanted to wish you all a very merry xmas. Many of you have helped me out, up and down, and I appreciate it. Stay safe, don't fry a frozen turkey, and go easy on the nog.
Sadly, it is too late for me...

Merry Christmas & God bless y'all!
