Can I just get a 2.5" PATA enclosure with integral USB port to use?
As far as I can tell, it shouldn't matter what the Ultra ATA's transfer rate is - just have to figure out what will physically connect.

Looks like lots of stuff is available, but I don't know about the connector compatibility due to the different pin-outs (40p & 80p are the standards, but I've counted connectors with 42, 44, 47, etc. pinouts...)
Good lord man... Making this difficult...
Your PATA enclosure is a good start, but I believe PATA includes both ATA and Ultra-ATA 40pin vs 80pin respectively. You are saying a 2.5" disk so I'm guessing this was an old laptop drive??

Shouldn't be any compatibility issues... Just going to pop up as mass storage or something to that effect I would guess... Oh and dont let the 40 vs 80 jack with you... same number of holes just a ground wire or insulating wire (something like that) between each 'hot' wire to enhance transfer speeds....

Dont have many machines running Std or ultra ATA anymore... most everything is SATA (Small 'L' shape connector)... One server still running some 15k SCSI w/ RAID (Had one self destruct on a reformat! )...

Well, it's pretty simple in retrospect - thanks for the answers, guys!
Walked in to Geek World and picked up a blingy PATA shell.

I always seem to be up IT creek w/o a paddle - thought I trashed the TouchSmart this morning when the log-on glitched up... and the Nerd Patrol diagnosed a SW problem long-distance - but turns out I transposed a character in the 23 character password about 100 times.
Hey, at least I figured it out myself.

I miss my sliide rule, rotary phone & mechanical pencil!

Mike, would have pegged you for an Abacus kind of guy!

Don't have to miss the old TV shows though. They are all coming back!
Last weekend I saw a 'Have Gun, Will Travel' marathon. Bet not to many of you remember that great western series!
Second only to the original 'Maverick', with a 30 yr old James Garner, which is also on TV now!

Office manager confronted me yesterday about my being a real pain in the tailpipe lately.
I reread a few of my lastest posts and realized I've been in a foul mood for two weeks!
Reason - got my knees mostly fixed and can now get back to exercise. Started a diet two weeks ago (the real irritation) and it has me less than my usual charming self. SO...... apologies all around!

10lbs down and 20lbs to go! 250...here I come!
Sorry to bore all with personal stuff....but if I tell everyone, it helps me keep myself commited! Thanks for listening. Bueller?.....Bueller?..... anyone still reading?

Really?
You must be the nicest mean SOB I know!

So, going all the way down to 250?
You know, you don't have to be Flat Belly to get a 3rd Gen...

Every time my knees hurt (painting the shop roof Tuesday) or my back hurts (burning 5lbs of 6011 rod in the fetal position Wednesday), I think of Rowland and how much worse it could be!

For you 2nd Gen guys.

I have CAD on my front axle (one of the last ones before they switched over on the 02.5's).
Never had a problem so never really looked closely at the system but, I have a question on the two pneumatic hard lines (vacuum line I assume) that come off the transfer case and run forward along the inside right frame rail to the front axle.
One is red, one is black (where they turn vertical and switch to soft lines and go to front axle).
Right at that point, my red line has been cut somehow.

Question, Isn't that part of the actuating system for the locking collar to engage 4x4?
If so, how come I still have 4x4?
Light comes on dash and I tried hard turns at Wal-Mart while in 4x4.... and got binding to confirm I actually do have 4x4??
I think I shouldn't have 4x4!
FSM does not really explain it to well. Anyone know for sure what that red line does?

Don't know if mine is the same, but this spring, after it warms up, I'll crawl under there and see.

Should be the same ...... No hurry.
I do have 4x4. Just don't know why it engages...or doesn't stay locked in.
I obviously don't understand the system as well as I thought.
