World's Fastest with Trailer....141.998mph!

Hey guys,

Normally I hang around the 1st Gen section, and now I can continue to do so, now that this whole ordeal is over with. I've always wanted to set a World Record since I was a kid, so this was a pretty big deal for me.

Here's the video, truck was about 1,500hp at the flywheel for those wondering about power, and was built by PPE. It's also "The Sleepermax" in Diesel Power Magazine.

Is that the required trailer for a world record? It's like towing a brick. I think you could have gone faster with an Airstream.

A lower, longer, tandem trailer would have been more aerodynamic and stable. I hope you at least got paid, if not you're really nuts.

They probably would have done better if they had a Dodge instead of that gmc! LOL

That's cruising... Duramax probably allot happier with the rpms necessary... Curious what you were turning at the end of the track? What gears?

Andy Rogozinski, owner of INLAND RV in Corona, CA, hit over 110-mph in a documented run with about 250-RWHP forty years ago: a V8-455 Buick sedan pulling an Airstream.

Bigger trailer, a fraction of the HP, and 80% of the same speed.

Yeah, I know the way aero resistance climbs like a rocket . . but it's an interesting perspective on the context.

A tandem-axle, independent-suspension, low ground clearance, low center-of-gravity, radiused corner, enclosed underside Airstream would, at a minimum, have used 20% less HP for the same speed for it's contribution (detraction) at top speed.

A fun stunt. But not me behind the wheel.
