World's fastest diesel smashes record .... Not Cummins ...But
Heres part of the article,
Andy Green has broken the world record for speed in a diesel car by more than 100 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah on Wednesday. Green drove Britain-based JCB's JCB Dieselmax, a computer-designed car with an engine normally used in backhoe loaders. After reaching a speed of 328mph on Tuesday, he completed the test by averaging 350mph over two runs on Wednesday. The old record, set in 1973, was 236mph.
To qualify for the world record, a vehicle must meet FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) guidelines: It must complete two trials within an hour of each other--then the average top speed of the two is recorded. On Wednesday, Green drove the JCB Dieselmax at 365mph on his first run and 335mph on his second

I'll never look at a backhoe the same way again

Say wait a tic... I think there are some pulling trucks around here that with the right gearing could take this thing on... any takers?

This is slightly more areodynamic than a full-bodied dakota pickup truck.
There are many classes of vehicles at the flats.
Banks will still hold the record for the fastest truck.

im not sure if anyones truck could do it. cuz from the stats that were posted it said 750bhp. is that for one engine cuz the article i read said they made a combined 1500HP and they only used 1200HP. now dont get me wrong but if that car that was designed to go that fast wont withstand that much power at that speed how cold a truck do that? it would be cool and all but i dont think its feasable. and i dont think anyone of us members has that kind of money to do that. it would be bad <edit> though if it happened.

Instead of using ice to cool the thing, they should be piping the heat through a tank of #6 bunker fuel, heating that up to 300 degrees, and then injecting it. People don't know how to squat anymore...
(Or is the ice cooling the intake? That's probably what that set-up was for; but I want to see something run off #6, darnnit!)
