Weld On Winches & Straps

Anyone use these on your trailers? I got five of them last weekend and welded em on my equipment trailer. Have the big 5" load hugger straps like you see on flatbed tractor trailers, with the big flat hooks for going through stake pockets. They've been great so far, I'm just using them to hold down pallets of sod, skid steer attachments, lumber, logs, etc. I cut the straps to 20' long, and they wind up and store on the winches, so you just unhook em and pull off what you need.

Fix them on sliding carriages and they work even better.

Then, you can shift them exactly where they are needed.

Are the carriages something you can make or do you buy them like that?

All the ones that I have used were home-made.

Most have a pipe welded lengthwise to the trailer, about every two or three feet; and, the strap winches have a corresponding hole that slides on the pipe.

Drive around the truck-stop and check out the flat-bed trailers.

I am sure you will see several designs of this set-up.

Just be sure the driver knows why you are nosing around.
