Strobe lights

Anyone got any type of strobe lights or flashers on your trucks or trailers? I'm thinking about putting something on my truck and cargo trailer, cause I have to park it on the side of the road fairly often. Just curious what set up some of you have, and how expensive, and what else you have to have to run them, like a different alternator or something. LED tail lights vs big yellow magnetic mount, etc. I've got a AW direct towing catalog with a million light setups in it, just want to hear from folks who have em.

Hey, it's 4:35 on Friday, I gotta cooler full of cold Natural Light and some cigars. Time to get off this stupid computer!

I have Sho-Me strobes in the front corners and backups. Very bright. Not terribly expensive... I don't remember the price offhand....

Requires strobe tubes, strobe controller, and an in cab switch.

Go to strobesnmore.com. They have amber setups there in several options including LEDs and strobes. They sell LEDs in the oval and round grommet and flange mount trailer style lights so they will look right on a trailer or utility bed. Also take a look on ebay. They sell on there for cheaper than anywhere else I've found. I have a 6X60 watt strobe kit in one truck and LEDs with a strobe flasher in another. In my opinion the LEDs are brighter but they are more expensive. Both kits I have are sho-me brand. I have had the strobe kit for 5 or 6 years now and have not had any problems out of it. If you're going to mount them on a trailer and run them through a trailer plug, go with the LEDs. They use a hot wire and a ground wire like a normal light. The strobes have 3 prong connectors and you have to use a 3 wire harness for each strobe. You can run more than one LED off of the same wire. They draw almost no power.

One of the best things that I ever did to my truck was ditching the factory self-cancelling turn-signal switch and mounting a Signal Stat turn-signal switch, like the good ones in big trucks.

These switches will work until you manually turn them off, regardless of whether the ignition is on or off.

They have the ability to carry a whole bunch of turn-signal/warning-flasher lights, on the truck and trailer.

Also, I removed a big orange strobe-light from a John Deere and mounted a set of overhead work-lights on the light-bar for a farmer.

He gave me the strobe and I intend to mount it on my truck, when time permits.
