towing a vehicle

I am towing a 4runner (manual) with a tow bar. I have never done this before.
I assume put trans in neutral(obviously)and unluck steering wheel.
What about tranfer case? What about hubs? Do those matter at all?
Anything else I may need to know.
Thanks

Call the dealer.... You may have to remove the drive shaft and put the transfer case in neutral.
Or they may have a RV package so that it can be towed without burning up the tranny.

I would put both the tcase and the tans in nuetral, just to make sure nothing in there spins.

if yer really worreid, or are making a long haul, drop the driveshafts.

Check the owner's manual.

I usually put the tcase in neutral and the trans in 2nd to keep the output shaft from spinning and smoking the trans.

DEFINITELY check the owners manual or the dealer. Not all manual trans vehicles can be towed in neutral safely.

Yeah, Id check with the dealer. I flat-towed a Suzuki Samurai a while back and the manual said to put the trans in 2nd and the tcase in neutral. Also, to stop and run the engine to get oil in the output bearing on the t-case every 2 hours.

I just pulled the shaft like I usually do, but thats what the manual stated.

Not sure how that Toy would be, but Id definately consult a manual or do some searching online. Lots of Toy sites out there.

Thats my .02
