Towing Mirror Fasteners

I just purchased a truck equipped with large towing mirrors, the stainless steel type that attach to the doors via 4 struts. The 1/4" - 20 mounting bolts thread into some type of threaded insert installed in holes drilled through the door skin. They appear to be similar to a "Molly" fastener. I have a couple of these inserts that are loose & need replacing. Any suggestions on where t find replacements would be appreciated - thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Your link depicts a "rivnut", heavy duty at that. Requires a special hydraulic installation tool to install. At $12 a piece for the rivnut, can't imagine what the installation tool would cost.

I'll keep looking for a Molly - thanks.

The ones I've seen and used are called "Jack Nuts". Found them at a Hardware store. Probably can also be found online at Graingers or McMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/#jack-nuts/=9v7vts

Found what I needed at McMaster; Jack Nut, 1/4"-20tpi, PVC coated, $7.80/pkg of 10.

Thanks for the heads-up!

They sell them in boxes. I got a box of 3/8 and there was a big handful in them. Don't remember how many. And you don't need the special tool. A bolt, a nut, and a flat bar is all I used to install them. Very simply and easy.
