Fasteners for fog lamps/sight shields?
Fasteners for fog lamps/sight shields?
Hey folks, can somebody help a guy out here - the parts book doesn't detail the fastener P/Ns or even supply a decent drawing - boy does the screen-only parts catalog suck compared to the old "year" books I used to use as a young counterman at dealers back before Reagan was elected...
My truck is a salvage work in progress, snapped up by a friend at a local used car lot and given to me as a gift (Yep, that's a GOOD friend! He got an older F-250 diesel that was my Dad's for a farm truck, but he was really just trying to help me out during some rough times...).
It took a front end hit, and among the things they didn't bother to replace when hastily slapping the front end back together were the fog lamps and the plastic inserts in the bumper slots, referenced as sight shields in the manuals - they just hide the bumper brackets. (Non-Sport front end)
I have a set of lamps and sight shields, but not the appropriate fasteners. I see how the sight shields use plastic tabs that key in on the top edge and sort of soft-lock when you swing them into position (looks like I have to take the front bumper off the brackets to get there), but I can't feel threads in the correct places for mounting either the bottom lugs of the shields or the fogger brackets. Do they both just use some kind of push fastener, or am i missing the threads on one or both?
Anybody with a non-sport late 2nd gen with foggers - if you have occasion to be down there, cleaning bugs off the intercooler or something, and you can take a look at those fasteners, I'd be obliged. The foggers are the late-style with the integral plastic bracket and two rectangular mounting slots - do these engage tangs sticking out of the back of the bumper from the black fascia strip or something?
Thanks for any help!

not sure at all about the light moiunts.
but the grey things are mounted by just pushing the fasteners into place. you can probably install without removing the bumper from the brackets. i just took mine off about 2 weeks ago, and they came right out with some creative maneuvering. they ended up finallycoming out of the bumper holes themselves, and IIRC i had to push them up fisrst as opposed to down.
i think a basic reverse order of which i took them out (so the order for install) is in the hole from the front with the outboard side leading and top side up, then up above the hole to get it straightened out, then slide it down and into place. they are quite flexible, so don't be shy on manipulating the pieces.
