Tow/Camper group, what is it
I have an 02 2500 with the camper/tow group. This is what i have found:
Camper group gives you a rear swaybar (for the height of a camper) and overload springs.
The tow group gives you the rear hitch assmebly/wiring. Mine has tow mirrors, but i am not sure if that falls under the tow group.

I have personally never seen a 94-02 2500/3500 without a receiver hitch. Mine has the hitch, swaybar, and overload springs. Since it's a Sport, no towing mirrors (bummer). Now I'm wondering if it has the tow package and what it exactly is too.
The tow package added the higher capacity cooling system, the trailer titch, and the wiring and adapter for the flat four pin, and I believe an auxillary tranny cooler. Hell of a deal for the about 300 bucks they charge when new. I have seen a 2500 without the tow package-it even had the CTD?!?! go figure.
Mine came without a tow package. That was fine with me because I had a ranchhand-like bumper already bought, and if I need to pull something that's fairly heavy, I'd much rather use a GN instead of a bumper pull. Since mine was a standard, the only benefit of the towing package would be the wireing harness, and that's not worth $300 to me. I had to run one wire from the connectors behind the wheelwell to the rear plug, that's it. I wish they'd incorporate a removable ball gooseneck hitch or something similiar in the tow package. Then it would be definately worth getting.

ok get this my 96 gasser 360 was the heavy duty tow package jobber but the person who bought it had the trailer hitch wires overloads taken off becuase he wanted the extra cooling capacity of the auto offerd in that package but he never towed any thing with it
Currently on the Dodge "build & price" web page:
"Trailer Tow Group
MSRP: $275.00
Class IV Hitch Receiver
Seven-Pin Wiring Harness"
3.73 gears are standard and 4.10 s an option unto itself. Selecting the tow group does not force a gear change. There could be a bug in the web page, but I don't think so. Of course, this is a 2004.5 - not a 2000...

Just to clarify.....
Generally a 4:10 rear end is included in a tow package. I had a '79 F-250 Camper Special with 4:10's and an '89 C/K 3500 with 4:10's. Both had a trailering package.
My 2003 CTD 4x4 has the "Off road group" which includes the 4:10 rear end. 3:73 was probably standard.
