Tire Pressure

The tires are stamped with a Max Load pressure of 65 psi. The trailer is not full...no water, very little clothing and empty holding tanks. Should I inflate the tires to 65 psi, or are they good at the 52 psi where they currently are? Thanks!

I run mine right where the instructions on the tires say so. Have not any problems for years. Mine calls for 80 psi.

I always keep my trailer tires inflated to the max cold pressure stamped on the sidewall. I just read a post about this on another forum yesterday and the consensus was the max pressure on the sidewall regardless of the type of tire, especially if they are ST tires. Check out re.net. Lots of posts. PCM

Our trailer tires call for 80 psi and that is where I run them fully loaded or even with a light load.

I was on the web page of a trailer tire maker, which said to run their trailer tires at the maximum cold pressure listed on the sidewall, and that running less would void the warranty.

Other brands (Maxxis I think is one) show a chart of inflation pressures for various loads.

Personally I run max pressure all the time on an RV trailer. Trailer tires seem to have a stiffer casing, and running full pressure at less than full load does not seem to cause any uneven wear.

Also, I haven't blown a trailer tire since I began running them at max regardless of load...

Here's a related link.

Another good read is the Goodyear rv brochure:

Run at max inflation less will add pressure on the side wall.
