tire chain installation
I'm going to tow our travel trailer down I-15 from Montana to CA, with my '05 1 ton 4X4. I have 2 sets of snow chains for the truck. My question is should the I go with the front axle for s single set, then add the rear axle for the 2nd set? I have no chains for the trailer as yet. Thanks for any advice.
Is your trailer a 5th wheel or a rear hitch pull?
Def. do both axles on the truck, and depending on how bad the roads really are when you reach a chain up area, do the trailer. Otherwise, keep er slow and steady.

Last winter I used chains on both axles on the 2001 but it says that body damage will occur if chains are used on the front of the 2011 so I only purchased for the rear. Can chains be used on the front of the 3rd gens?
Is Monida pass what you are worried about? My wife and I came across it last year on New Years Eve day, we had to wait in Dillion until about 11 am or a little later for them to open it. It was solid ice the whole way across and they didnt have any signs saying to chain up. We were in a little subuaru awd outback and didnt have any trouble.
We werent pulling a trailer though, so, I have no idea of where I am going with all of that, but here is a picture of when we came across, it was -15

We are going to be going from Dillion to Ca the day after thanksgiving in a pickup I bought off her dad, wonder if I will need to bring chains?
