Hold your hourses.

Check out http://www.rjays.com/Tekonsha/brk-controls-01.htm

I purchased ours for $99.00 from agri supply But I see they have increased the price to the average $124.00.

Check your truck and see if it has the trailer plug on the back bumper. If you have the plug your truck is already wired. And you will only need O.E.M. Style Wire Harness for Dodge fro $8.99.
Re:Tekonsha Prodigy....

Got the trailer plug. Currently have the adapter to run a flat 4 prong for the lights on the trailer.
One in the same?

Did some more phone research. There's a trailer place nearby that quoted me $245.
For the truck and trailer, wiring anyway. $100 more to have the Prodigy installed.
Not too bad.
They told me the same thing. The truck should be set-up already.
Wish I was better with electrical.
It's prolly not that complicated but I have the ability to fubar easy things.

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy....

On the truck side it is plug and play.
You order the wiring harness for your truck. You plug it in under the dash and then plug it into the prodigy. Thats it ;D ;D
The brake controller is very easy to mount and comes with good intsructions. The people at tekonsha have a great service and support center.
With the wiring harness and the instructions it is as close to fool proof as you can get.
Plus if you have any questions the people on this forum will have the right answers for you..
So for about $116.00 you can have the prodigy installed and ready to go. Thats a big savings over what you have been quoted..

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy....

Heads up on the Tekonhsa Prodigy, Great product I'm running one already. Go to your local Camping World and pickup the pigtail that's already wired on both ends for all Tekonsha Brake controllers for about $10. What a deal then all you have to do is plug it in and mount the controller itself, about a 30 minute job if you want to make it look good. I reccomend mounting it on the removable plate just below the steering wheel, 2 screws take it off to allow you drill the holes and mount the controller and run the wiring.
Question for you though, It sounds like your trailer doesn't have trailer brakes, you stated it has a 4 prong wire connector on it. If that's all it has then all you have is brake & turn signals and NO Electric brakes.

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy....

The trailer has brakes. Never been used tho. Two wires coming off each hub on the rear.(it's a tandem)
That needs to set up yet. Or finished is a better way to put it.
Re:Tekonsha Prodigy....

GG:

Like everyone said, take a look at the back of your truck; it should have a round plug with a cover for the trailer.

For a trailer with brakes, you'll need to use the 7-pin connector, not the 4-pin. The 4-pin only gives you parking lights & turn signals - no brakes! (Brake LIGHTS, but not brakes...)

My 2003 had the connector for the brake controller harness to the left of the clutch pedal, up under the dash, on top of the large wiring harness under there - 30-second install!

Hope this helps...

Rene
